The Frederick Women’s Distance Festival is presented by the Frederick Steeplechasers Running Club. This 5k race for female runners and walkers promotes health and fitness among women of all ages and abilities. The front of the pack is pretty competitive, but they have plenty of beginners and walkers. Amenities include race-day expo, technical race shirt, swag bag, post-race refreshments, and awards for top overall finishers and age group awardees. The event consists of a main 5k event and the "Little Women 1k Fun Run", for girls age 13 and under. Proceeds benefit the Women's Giving Circle of Frederick County, which funds grants to local nonprofits assisting women.
