Race Information

Peaks and Trails is a challenging trail running event, starting and finishing in the heart of picturesque Dunkeld. The weekend offers something for all levels of trail enthusiast with 5 distance options: 6.4km; 13.5km; 20km; 50km; and the 6.2 Mud-Dadjug Challenge where runners will challenge themselves against the rugged terrain of Mud-Dadjug (Mt Abrupt) by climbing 3.1km, a total elevation gain of 430m to the summit of Mud-Dadjug (Mt Abrupt) before retracing their steps back to the starting line.

The longer options also include trails on privately owned land, normally inaccessible to the public. Runners will experience a range of landscapes and stunning postcard views on these trails surrounded by the four most southern peaks: Wurgarri (Mt Sturgeon), Bainggug (Piccaninny), Mud-Dadjug (Mt Abrupt) and Signal Peak. Track surfaces will vary significantly throughout the course to include river flats, open woodland, technical loose rocky single trail, 4WD track, sand, tree roots and everything in between.  Being August, expect mud, water and slippery conditions.
