The Mountain State Forest Festival 10K/5K features a 10K or 5K timed option with a start/stop in Elkins WV loop road course during the Mountain State Forest Festival. The Mountain State Forest Festival is one of the largest and oldest festivals in West Virginia, promoting the beauty and splendor of the West Virginia mountains, and it plays a major role in the local and state economy. This year's festival includes nightly live music and entertainment in the beautiful downtown amphitheater, a lumberjack competition, forestry and wood exhibits, a juried art show, a photography exhibit, a quilt show, arts and crafts, amusement rides, three parades, and the royal coronation of the reigning queen.
